Power And Control Services, Inc.

Over the years, we have had the opportunity to assist with some very large and interesting projects. These projects included:

Hot Air Systems

We assisted a tissue mill install a system on two of their paper machines that would use either the hot exhaust from their cogen facility or their own gas burners to provide the hot air needed to dry their paper. These projects required logic changes with a lot of carefully timed transitions of dampers and blowers to prevent unbalancing the system that would result in inadvertantly shutting down either machine, or the cogen facility, as well as adding cross system communications between multiple PLCs and DCSs.

We have also been working with the same customer as they institute new safety measures on their hot air systems site wide involving PLC and Experion programming and communications.

Headbox Replacment

We assisted a corrugated medium mill in replacing their 32 zone Jetmatic headbox with a 64 zone GL&V dilution headbox. In addition to logic changes, this project included adding a new Metso process station to the existing Valmet DCS, wiring a new I/O cabinet, and upgrading the engineering environment and operator stations.

DCS Upgrade

In 2016, we assisted a customer in replacing their Neles DCS on one paper machine with a Honeywell Experion PKS. This project included logic reviews to ensure functionality after converting from FbCAD logic to Control Builder logic, replacing DCS control of jointly used systems with PLC control system so one machine's shutting down would not impact the other machine's runability, and setting up communications between the three systems to allow joint control of the shared systems on the new PLC.
